Hydroelectric Power Harvesting

easy use of kinetic energy of rivers

Underwater floating power plant

up to 70 kW electrical energy 24/7

Hydrofloat® is an underwater floating power plant for large rivers such as Missisippi, Colorado  River, Missouri River or many others.

The power buoy is made of black, UV-resistant, impact-resistant and recyclable polyethylene and mounted on a long steel chain fixed to a steel anchor rod that is flush-cast in the river bed. Chain and anchor offer fourfold security up to a maximum flow speed of 4 m / s.

With the 250 cm slowly rotating and fish  friendly rotor it delivers 70 kW nominal power at a river flow velocity of 3.3 m/s. Depending on the quality of the location, one aqualibre device can deliver up to 300 MWh per year.

The supplied alternating current with 3 x 400V voltage is formed into grid-conforming current, and the generator automatically tracks the generated torque.

The system is constantly monitored via GSM remote inquiry and can be serviced within a short time. The Hydrofloat® has been patented worldwide.

The dimensions:
length 1100cm,
max. Width at the diffuser 550cm,
max. Height at the bow 340 cm,
net weight 6.4 t,
minimum water depth 300 cm in low water.

eco friendly

No construction work is needed. The hydrofloat® bouy is hardly recognizable on the surface. No ecological impairment. Fish are not in danger as the rotor turns slowly.

ship friendly

The bouy is placed outside of the navigable area and is well marked on the surface. shipping is not disturbed.
customer friendly

Power production  with high efficiency day and night for 8750 hours a year. Network compatible base load current for the region. 400V / 50 Hz current for up to 100 households.
service friendly

Minimum 20 years durability with only two mechanical  parts with 80.000 operation hours

2 devices are in use since 2014 at the ecologically and touristically very sensible area Wachau in Austria.

Yearly production per device about 200.000 kWh at average river flow velocity of 2,2 m/s
